Filey Emergency Services Drill Takes Place Over Weekend

A large-scale search and rescue exercise took place in Filey over the weekend

Emergency services from North Yorkshire Police, HM Coastguard, Filey RNLI and Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team, took part in a large missing person search scenario.

It means that there will be an increased emergency services presence in Filey this morning.

Senior Coastal operations Manager Officer Matthew Atkinson said:

“The emergency services all need to train together so we are prepared for the worst should it happen, Sunday is an excellent opportunity to test the operational response of all the services involved.

Please don’t be alarmed at the number of emergency services personnel in the area and stay away from any cliff edges.

Please continue if you see anyone in difficulty or anything suspicious to dial 999 as normal.”
