Filey Golf Club has been closed since late March. Filey Southdene Bowling Club is watching the situation closely, with the season due to start in early May, a delay is looking ever more likely. Filey Sailing Club is reviewing the situation on 30 April. Filey Tennis Club’s open day on 19 April will be rescheduled.

The Scarborough Beckett Cricket League has announced that they are planning to start the league season on Saturday 4 July, usually the halfway point of the season. While preparations continue at Filey Cricket Club, all recreational cricket is currently suspended by the national governing body, the ECB, until further notice. Should the ECB allow play to commence before the Beckett League’s start date of 4 July, the league will schedule its cup fixtures to suit.

Professional cricket is currently suspended until 28 May. Scarborough Cricket Club will be particularly keen to see the season start on that date, as they are hosting the prestigious Roses match between Yorkshire and Lancashire on 14-17 June. There was every expectation that the game would be a sell-out, so any delay or cancellation would be hugely disappointing to Scarborough CC. Thankfully, the traditional Scarborough Cricket Festival should be unaffected as it scheduled to take place on 23-26 August.
