As usual the beach is highlighted as being an exceptional attraction, but it is nice to note that the town is described as being ‘so clean’, which will be a delight to the indefatigable volunteers of Keep Filey Tidy and the litter pickers of Scarborough Borough Council.

Filey Museum is mentioned in dispatches, which is wonderful given its current lengthy closure due to the pandemic; we hope to see it back in 2022! It is indeed a shame that the museum remains closed as it celebrates its Golden Jubilee year. But with an ageing volunteer base, caution has to be the watchword.

Perhaps Filey’s ultimate hidden gem, the Dams Nature Reserve, is given some valuable publicity. Tucked away on the edge of the Wharfedale estate, it is worthy of a visit at any time of the year. The Filey Bird Observatory and Group have an informative page on the site.
