It represents quite a coup for the town, with the summer season now in full swing it seems that the town is attracting a reputation for top-class eateries. Filey is already famous for its fish and chips shops, notably Ingham’s, with some visitors travelling miles simply to eat their chips overlooking the bay. The Food Festival is now an established part of the calendar. The town also boats a couple of high-end restaurants, with the White Lodge in particular building a reputation that will undoubtedly place it in the same bracket at places like the Talbot at Malton and the Pipe and Glass at Beverley.

Malton has successfully branded itself as ‘Yorkshire’s Food Capital’, we look forward to our tourism chiefs planning a new strategy for our town. The need to drive Filey further upmarket is obvious to all. Recent developments such as the opening of the excellent Glasshouse, the completion of high-quality apartments on Belle Vue Street and booming property prices point to a bright future for Filey.

The website Forever British Country described Popcorn as ‘a very rocky country song, definitely one I can see being popular at shows. Tommy’s gravely voice suits the song so well. There’s some great beats and guitar riffs, definitely a song that needs to be turned up loud!’

Due to the restrictions imposed because of the Corona virus pandemic, the song was recorded in Tommy’s diner on Hope Street and used some old tights and a box for a microphone booth. You can download Tommy’s chart topper from iTunes.

Tommy Taylor also runs Tommy’s Americana Bar and Eatery with his wife Lauren on Hope Street. As well as selling a mouth-watering range of food inspired by the Deep South, Tommy’s also regularly hosts country music nights, attracting artists from across Britain and beyond.

Tommy is donating any proceeds from song sales, to ‘Team Tiernan‘, a local lad who is fundraising for some excellent causes. They are: CLIC SARGENT – Providing support to families affected by Cancer; CANDLELIGHTERS – A Yorkshire based charity dedicated to fighting children’s cancer and assisting the affected families; TEENAGE CANCER TRUST – Providing young people with Cancer specialist care and support; CCLG – Children’s Cancer & Leukeamia Group. The experts in childhood cancer who’s aim is to shape the future to ensure all children survive and live independent lives.
