She’s done it!

Stephanie Luxton completed her one hundredth round trip by bike between Filey’s Coble Landing and Hunmanby Gap this morning. Her daily five mile round trips commenced on 16th September and every day since she has become a familiar sight, often battling against a headwind along the beach. In total Stephanie has cycled 450 miles, taking seventy-three hours to raise funds for the Filey’s RNLI Lifeboat.

The money raised will go some way to providing a volunteer with much needed kit. Items such as: a pager, life jacket, helmet, gloves, yellow full body suit, those famous yellow wellies and survival blankets, ropes and lines, carried on the lifeboat.

To date Stephanie has raised over £1,700, but you can still donate via her JustGiving page.  On her travels Stephanie has collected cash in person and there has been a collection point in the Life Boat House. The crew and volunteers at Filey RNLI are delighted by Stephanie’s amazing effort.

You can read more about the challenges of tides and weather on Stephanie’s blog page. On there she describes the challenges posed by the ever-changing tide, dodging pebbles, seaweed and occasionally the effects of coastal erosion!
