Filey in Bloom Summer Fayre

On Saturday 7 August the Filey in Bloom group will be holding their summer fayre in the Crescent Gardens. Between 10am and 3pm there will be a tombola, a raffle, pig racing and music from the Filey Sea Shanty Men. However, perhaps most exciting is a ‘fairy garden in a shoe box’ competition for the under-12s. The fairy garden must be no larger than a shoe box and will be judged between 9am and 10am on the day.

Filey in Bloom is an independent group of local people who work together to keep Filey looking at its very best. They work alongside Scarborough Borough Council’s Environmental Services team. They create special feature flower beds such as the fishermen sat down in Crescent Gardens and the gardener with wheelbarrow also in Crescent Gardens.
Throughout the spring and summer they hold working parties throughout Filey to maintain and improve the floral and environmental features across the town. They also hold fundraising events all year round to enable us to carry out all our work, all proceeds raised are ploughed back into Filey.

They are always on the look out for new volunteers, it is a great way to get to know new friends and do your bit the make the town bloom!
