A happy new year to all our readers, from an unseasonably warm Filey. The town has been thronged with visitors over the last few days and last night there were some fabulous New Year’s celebrations. None more so than at the White Lodge Hotel, where the filey.co.uk editorial team enjoyed fine dining and dancing into the little hours.
The weather has hardly been seasonal, with just a couple of frosts to remind us that we are supposedly in the deep midwinter. Misty mornings and temperatures in double figures, has made it feel more autumnal than anything.
The New Year of 2022 will see the hugely popular Filey Food Festival begin its run of events over the Easter Weekend; the much-delayed Filey Literature Festival will finally make its bow in May; and the well-established Folk Festival will pack the pubs of the town over the bank holiday weekend at the start of May.
There will be much more, from the Americana Weekend, the Trackrod Rally and, of course, the celebrations in June of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. It will be a year to savour.
