Between Saturday 28 August and Tuesday 31 August, Filey Sailing Club will be hosting the 2021 RS Tera National Championship. It will be quite a spectacle as one hundred boats will take part in the main regatta, with many more expected to take part in two other events.
The RS Tera is a single-manned sailing dinghy, a popular boat for beginners and children, it is both suitable for introducing newcomers to the sport of sailing, but is also a good boat to race. The boat is highly robust and forgiving. It is built with a self draining cockpit and is easy to right after a capsize. The boat is fairly small and light, meaning it is possible to transport on a roof rack, and that it is manageable on the water by younger children.
What Boat magazine entertainingly described the RS Tera as: ‘An ideal boat to introduce kids to sailing – modern looking, fun to sail and exceptional value…buy one and burn the Playstation’.
