A History of Filey in Seven Buildings

The Filey & District U3A commence their season on Thursday 24 October, with a talk entitled ‘A History of Filey in Seven Buildings’ by Hunmanby based academic Dr George Sheeran. The talk takes place at at 10.30am at Filey Methodist Church, Union Street. Visitors are welcome and pay a small fee. Membership of the U3A is only £12 per annum and gives access to an impressive range of activities that can be found via the U3A website. 

Dr George Sheeran is Honorary Visiting Post-Doctoral Fellow in the School of Archaeological Sciences at the University of Bradford. His areas of interest and expertise are in urban history, architectural history and eighteenth century landscape. He has published widely in academic journals and through conference papers. His books include Landscape Gardens in West Yorkshire (1990), Medieval Yorkshire Towns (1999) and Brass Castles: the West Yorkshire New Rich and their Houses 1800-1914 (2006).
