Weather set fair for the Steampunk Weekend

Events, Filey   /   Tags: ,

The Filey Steampunk weekend is upon us and the weather forecast is set fair. The annual steampunk festival is a feast for the eyes. With parades, music and a pop-up bar, it is an event you cannot miss!

The fun begins on the Evron patio with Old Time Rags from 10.30am.  They are an intriguing combination of a one man band and a tap dancer. Also on the patio throughout the day until 5pm will be a pop up bar run by the new Filey Distillery. You will be able to purchase Filey gin by the bottle and the glass. A fabulous opportunity to meet the team behind the gin that is taking the pubs of the town by storm.

Well known local historian Catherine Welch is giving a talk on the dastardly poisoner Dr Pritchard at 2pm in the Evron Centre. But perhaps the highlight of the day will be a steampunk costume parade at 4pm on the Crescent Gardens. The evening is topped off by an appearance by the astonishing Cabaret of Curiosities at 7pm at the Evron. This is a ticketed event, but it is likely that a pay on the door option will be available.

On the Sunday from 11am there will be Burlesque lessons, Indian head massages, morris dancing and tea duelling! We absolutely no idea what the latter is, but we will turn up with a digestive and see what happens! At 2pm the Ramshackle Shanty men will serenade passing crowds and the weekend will close at 4pm.
